    Supported hosts

    Outlook add-ins are supported in Outlook 2013 or later on Windows, Outlook 2016 or later on Mac, Outlook on the web for Exchange 2013 on-premises and later versions, Outlook on iOS, Outlook on Android, and Outlook on the web in Office 365 and Outlook.com. Not all of the newest features are supported in all clients at the same time. Please refer to articles and API references for those features to see which hosts they may or may not be supported in.

    With the Outlook add-in for Slack, you can send emails to Slack channels and direct messages (DMs) directly from your inbox.

    Supported platforms

    • Outlook 2016 (or later) for Windows and Mac
    • Outlook for web
    • Outlook for iOS and Android
    • The add-in is only available for Office 365. It\'s not supported for on-premise Microsoft Exchange customers.
    • Only the Exchange mail protocol is supported. Outlook clients set up to retrieve messages with POP/IMAP are not supported.
    • On-premises SharePoint installations or Office 365 plans hosted on a Microsoft national cloud deployment (including Office 365 U.S. Government, Office 365 Germany, and Office 365 operated by 21Vianet in China) are not currently supported.
    1. Head to the Slack for Outlook page in Microsoft AppSource.
    2. Click Get it now and follow the prompts.

    Tip: If you\'re unable to install the add-in yourself, contact an Office 365 administrator at your company for help.

    Once the add-in has been installed, connect your Outlook account to a Slack workspace. If you\'re part of an Enterprise Grid org, you can connect any workspaces you\'re a member of.

    Connect Outlook to a workspace

    1. Open the Outlook desktop app.
    2. Click the Slack icon in the toolbar.
    3. Select Connect to Slack.
    4. If you\'re not signed in to Slack, you\'ll be prompted to do so.
    5. Click Authorize. If you have access to more than one workspace, you can choose a different one from the dropdown menu in the top-right corner of the screen.

    1. Open Outlook.
    2. Click Send to Slack from the toolbar.
    3. Click Connect to Slack.
    4. If you\'re not signed in to Slack, you\'ll be prompted to do so.
    5. Click Authorize. If you have access to more than one workspace, you can choose a different one from the dropdown menu in the top-right corner of the screen.

    1. Open Outlook.
    2. Open an email and click the three dots menu.
    3. Select Slack for Outlook.
    4. If you\'re not signed in to Slack, you\'ll be prompted to sign in.
    5. Click Authorize. If you have access to more than one workspace, you can choose a different one from the dropdown menu in the top-right corner of the screen.

    Tip: If you\'re using the new inbox view, you can add a Send to Slack action to the top-level action bar from the Customize Actions section of Outlook settings.

    Connect another workspace

    If you\'re a member of more than one Slack workspace, or you\'re a member of an Enterprise Grid org, you can easily connect additional workspaces.

    1. Open Outlook.
    2. Click the Slack icon in the toolbar.
    3. Click the arrow icon to the right of your workspace name.
    4. Select Connect another workspace.
    5. Open the dropdown menu in the top-right and choose a workspace, or click Sign in to another workspace.
    6. Sign in, then click Authorize.

    1. Open Outlook, then open an email.
    2. Click the Slack icon.
    3. Click the arrow icon to the right of your workspace name.
    4. Select Connect another workspace.
    5. Open the dropdown menu in the top-right and choose a workspace, or click Sign in to another workspace.

    Note:If you run into problems connecting Slack and Outlook, try using Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox, then restart the Outlook desktop app. If you’re using Internet Explorer, adjusting your browser’s security zone setting to Medium or lower should clear up any issues.

    Now that you\'re connected, you\'re ready to start sending emails to Slack channels and DMs.
