• As a graphic designer and photo retoucher, a Mac and Adobe Creative Suite are an obvious choice (though I go way back to when Quark was KING and there was no InDesign). Every sooften I’m asked to create illustrations that 3D software would help. Finding 3D software has been a challenge.

  You can sync and backup your computer’s files using OneDrive for Business through a web browser or through desktop and mobile apps. This page will explain how to download these apps and configure them to access your USC OneDrive for Business files.

  For example, on some earlier versions of Mac OS X, you had to click and drag an app icon out of the Dock and then wait a bit longer for a cloud icon to appear on the icon but the ‘Remove’ label did not appear, instead you’d simply release the app icon and it would disappear into a poof with a little sound effect. That whimsical touch was. The OneDrive icon on the Windows 10 system tray isn’t just another meaningless icon. It provides all sorts of visual clues that can help you determine what goes on at a quick glance.

  OneDrive for Windows

  Download the App

  If your computer is running the Windows 10 operating system, the OneDrive desktop app is already installed. If your computer is running Windows 8.1, 7, or Vista, download the app through Microsoft’s OneDrive website at onedrive.live.com/about/en-us/download.

  Configure the App

  To configure the Windows OneDrive app to access the files in your USC Office 365 account:

  1. Click the cloud icon in the Windows task bar to set up OneDrive.

  
  NOTE: On computers running the Windows 8.1 operating systems, you will see the Set Up OneDrive screen when you launch OneDrive. Click Work or school to continue.
  

  2. On the Microsoft OneDrive screen that appears, enter your USC email address and click Sign in.
  3. OneDrive will now connect to the USC servers.
  4. The Windows Security will appear. Enter your USC email address and password then check the box labelled Remember my credentials.
  5. Click OK
  6. On the This is your OneDrive folder screen, click Next.
  7. On the Sync files from your OneDrive screen, choose the files you want OneDrive to sync and click Next.
  8. On the Your OneDrive is ready for you screen, Click Open my OneDrive – University of Southern California folder to view your files.

  OneDrive for Mac

  Download the App

  To download the OneDrive for Mac app:

  1. From a Mac OS X-based desktop computer, go to the Mac App Store.
  2. Search for OneDrive.
  3. Find the OneDrive icon and click Get.
  4. Click Install App.
  5. Sign-in to your App Store account to begin the download.

  Configure the App

  Once you have downloaded OneDrive from the Mac App Store:

  1. Go to your Applications folder and click the OneDrive icon.
  2. On the Set up OneDrive screen, enter your USC email address and click Sign in.
  3. You will be brought to the Office 365 screen. Click the password field and wait for it to redirect you to the adfs.usc.edu login screen.
  4. Enter your USC Net ID email address and password and click Log in.
  5. The This Is Your OneDrive Folder screen will appear. Click Choose OneDrive Folder Location.
  6. Navigate to the where you want your OneDrive folder to be installed and click Choose a location.
  7. The This Is Your OneDrive Folder screen will reappear. Click Next.
  8. The Sync Files from Your OneDrive screen will appear. Either click All files and folders on my OneDrive to make all of your OneDrive files accessible on your computer or click Choose folders to sync to select the folders you would like to sync with OneDrive for Business and then click Next.
  9. The Your OneDrive is Ready for You screen will appear. Check Open at login so my files sync automatically and then click Open my OneDrive – University of Southern California folder.
  10. Your OneDrive folder will open and you are now ready to work with OneDrive for Business on your computer.

  To add your OneDrive folder to your Favorites in Finder, drag your OneDrive folder into Favorites.
  

  You can also access your OneDrive folder by clicking the cloud icon on the top menu bar.
  

  OneDrive for Mobile Devices

  To download and install the OneDrive for Business app for Android, iOS, or Windows mobile devices, click the Microsoft links below from your mobile device. When prompted for an email address and password during the installation, use your USC NetID email address and password.

  1. Click on the OneDrive- St. Cloud State Universityicon on the menu bar located on the right site that looks like a black cloud.
  
  Note: If you do not see the \'cloud\' icon in your menu bar, click on the search button in the top right corner of your desktop. Type \'OneDrive\' and click on the application when you see it on the list.
  
  2. Click on the three vertical dots > Preferences.
  Note: If your menu does not look like the image in step 3, you will need the updated client from Office 365.

  
  

  3. Go to Account, Click on Add an Account and enter you Office 365 Login. Click Sign in.

  Employees/Emeriti: starID@minnstate.edu

  5. Click Next on the next window.

  
  

  6. The next window will show you tips on OneDrive and your setup is complete.
  7. You can now remove your previous account by completing steps 1 & 2 above and then choose Unlink this Mac.

  Note: If you had made changes to your OneDrive documents during the freeze period (July 26- August 11) and have not been able to get it back after the transition, contact or stop in to HuskyTech. We will have staff members to help you copy those changes over.
