To import Apple Address Book contacts: In the Apple Address Book, select the contacts that you want to export and drag the selection to the desktop. The contacts are saved as a vCard file. In Outlook 2011 for Mac, at the bottom of the navigation pane, click on Contacts. Drag the vCard file from the desktop to the Contacts item list. Import Thunderbird Contacts into Outlook for Mac 2011. Once you have the Thunderbird contacts file downloaded to your Mac, you can directly import it into Outlook for Mac 2011 client. The following are the steps that you need to implement in this regard: On your Mac, open Outlook for Mac 2011 client.

You can move your Address/Contacts list to use it with Exchange from a variety of alternate email programs. Your Contacts list will be stored centrally, making it available to you via Outlook, Outlook Web Access (OWA), and your Exchange-compliant devices such as the iPhone, Blackberry or Android. Follow the instructions on this page for assistance.

Import from:

Eudora or Outlook Express (Windows)

Outlook can import Contacts from Eudora or Outlook Express using a built-in process. Go to File->Open->Import, select the option to Import Internet Mail and Addresses, and then the import wizard will guide you through the required steps.

Eudora, Entourage, Mail, .csv, .olm, .pst (Mac)

Microsoft provides detailed instructions on importing to Outlook 2011 from each of these clients or data formats. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2413370 (or the .csv import steps outlined below on this page) for more information.

Thunderbird (Windows or Mac)

Launch Thunderbird, open the Address Book, and select the list you want to export. (If you have more than one list, you will need to repeat these steps for each). Choose Tools->Export. Give the file a name and indicate that you want to Save as type: Comma Separated. Click on Desktop (to save it to the Desktop location) and then Save.

The .csv file that you have just created can now be imported into Outlook using the instructions provided below.

Outlook (e.g. from an IMAP account on another computer)

You can export your local Contacts from Outlook 2010 and from Outlook 2011 (steps 1-3) for import into Outlook for Exchange.

Horde

After you have transitioned to Exchange, no new mail will be going in to your Horde/ACS account. However, you will still have access Horde (until September 2013) in order to retrieve things like address information or the parameters for your filters/rules.

  1. Log in to Horde at www.bu.edu/webmail.
  2. Go to your Contacts list and choose Select All by clicking in the top box to the left. (You can also make individual selections if you don’t want to export every address.)
  3. Click Export andchoose Comma Separated Values. Then click on the Export button.
  4. Look for the resulting file, which will be called contacts.csv. If it’s not on your Desktop, check your Browser’s Downloads folder.
  5. Once you have located contacts.csv, launch Outlook and follow the steps outlined below.

Import (.csv) to:

Outlook 2011

  1. Go toFile ->Import.
  2. Select Contacts or messages from a text file, and then click the right arrow to continue.
  3. Select Import Contacts from a tab (CSV) and then click the right arrow to continue.
  4. Locate and select the .csv file (that you saved as an export, probably to the Desktop) and then click Import.
  5. Click OK.

Outlook 2010

  1. Go to File -> Open -> Import
  2. Select Import from Another Program or File and click Next.
  3. Select Comma Separated Values (Windows) and click Next.
  4. Browse to locate and select the .csv file (that you saved as an export, probably to the Desktop). Click on the CSV file to select it and click OK. Choose the import option that you prefer and then click Next.
  5. Select a destination folder for the addresses you are importing. Most likely, this will be your Contacts folder. Click Next.
  6. Click the Map Custom Fields button and match up the corresponding From and To fields so that the contact information you are importing gets correctly placed into the corresponding field in Contacts. When you are finished, click OK.
  7. Click Finish and your contacts will import into Outlook.

When you are using the Address Book in Outlook 2010, by default it will display BU’s Global Address List as a priority over your Contacts list. Most people will prefer that option. However, if you wish to make your Contacts list the first choice instead, here’s how to change that order of priority:

  1. From Home, click on the Address Book icon (probably located toward the top right of the ribbon).
  2. From the Address Book menu, go to Tools and then Options
  3. Click Custom and the change the order of the list.
  4. Click OK at the bottom.

How to import contacts in Outlook for MacOS.

  • Make sure you have before proceeding. Then open Outlook and follow these steps:
    1. Export your contacts to a comma separated value file (.csv) or an Outlook Data File (.pst).
    2. Open Outlook 2016; in the bottom left tab, click People
    3. Click the Tools tab in the Outlook ribbon.
    4. Click Import.
    5. In the Import window, select the type of file you are importing and click Next.
    6. Browse and select the file, and click Import.
    7. The application will begin importing your contacts. When it is finished, click Finish.
